Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Enable and Use In-Call Status Pop-ups in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

In-call status pop-ups is a new feature that can be found in Phone app in Samsung Galaxy S5. If this feature is enabled, when you use other apps whilst on an active call, your phone will display your in-call status in a small pop-up window so that you can easily know your in-call status without having open up the phone app first.

How to enable or disable in-call status pop-ups?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Call.
  4. Tap Call-related pop-ups.
  5. Depending on your current settings, tap In-call status pop-ups to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the option is enabled and the phone will display your in-call status in a small pop up window while using other app.

How to use in-call status pop-ups?
Assuming that you have enabled in-call status pop-ups, when you're on an active call and then use another app then you'll see the in-call status is displayed in a small pop up window.
  • When you're still on an active call, the pop-up window will display the caller's picture and the call duration with the green-coloured background.
  • When the call is ended, the pop-up window will display the caller's picture with the word "Ended" as the call status with the orange-coloured background.
  • Tap the pop up window to display in-call status in full screen view.
  • Drag the pop-up window to move it to the required position.

As a note, though the pop-up will remain on top, it will still let you use/navigate your phone normally. The in-call status pop-ups will be useful for those of you who are tight with the call duration of the incoming calls especially if you have limited voice plan. This feature helps you easily know the call duration so that you can hang up the call at the right time even when using other app.
