Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Reset Phone's Settings to Factory Default Settings in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

If needed, you can perform a settings reset on your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to return your phone's settings back to the factory default settings without deleting data. You can do this when you want to have new customizations of your phone's settings without you have to change settings one by one, or you can do this as an alternative way to fix some issues, such as a feature or function doesn't work, before you decide to perform factory reset for your phone.

How to reset your phone's settings to the factory default settings?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Backup and reset and then tap it.
  3. Scroll down the screen and then tap Reset settings.
  4. Here, you'll be informed that doing this action will reset your phone's settings back to its factory default settings and any customizations you have made to your device, such as your ringtone and do not disturb settings, will be discarded, but your personal data and the settings of downloaded apps will not be affected. If you fine with it, tap Reset settings button.
  5. A pop up window appears on the screen to confirm you again that doing this action will reset all your phone's settings back to their defaults and it cannot be recovered. Tap Reset to continue the process and restart your phone to apply the new settings.
  6. Perform your current screen lock type. As the example, if your screen lock type is set to pattern, draw your screen lock pattern to continue the process.
  7. Wait until your phone is finished restarting and applying the new settings.
  8. Your phone's settings have been reset to the factory default settings except the security, language, and account settings. Now, you can make new customizations of your phone's settings according to your need.
