Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge: How to Disable Easy Mode in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

Easy mode is a feature that you can use to simplify your phone's layout so you can use it with more easily. When needed, you can turn off this mode to use standard mode as home screen mode in your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge if you'd like trying to use conventional layout to improve your experience of using this phone or if you'd like to be able to do some actions that cannot be done or use some features that cannot be found in the easy mode, e.g., add some widget to the home screen for easier access to a specific function or feature of an app, use other theme so you can have more personal looks for your phone, change the grid size of the screen so you can display more apps or widgets on the home screen and apps screen, etc.


How to switch the home screen mode from easy mode to standard mode?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Easy mode and then tap it.
  3. Tap Standard mode to select it and then tap Done button.
  4. The easy mode has been turned off and the standard mode will be applied in your phone.

When you place your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge in the easy mode, you're allowed to set which apps you want to display in simpler layout for easier and more convenient usages. But, doing this action can make some functions or features within that app becomes unavailable, as the example, the feature to open multiple tabs in the Internet app is unavailable, the settings menu in the Camera app is unavailable, the option to display only phone number in the Contacts app is unavailable, etc. Thus, if you're facing this issue, you can set that app to be displayed in standard layout so you can use this app with its full features and functions while you're in the easy mode.


How to display an app in standard layout while in the easy mode?
As the example, we'll set the Camera app in standard layout while in easy mode by using the following steps:
  1. While you're in the easy mode, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Easy mode and then tap it.
  3. Scroll down to the Easy applications section and then slide the ON/OFF switch next to Camera to the left to disable this option. When the switch turns gray , means the Camera app will be displayed in standard layout.
  4. Tap Done button to save the changes.
  5. Now, you can use all features and functions in the Camera app as you used to do with this app while your phone is in the standard mode.

While your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is in the easy mode, you can do some customisations to fit your needs, as the example, you can add more home screens so you can display more contacts or apps in the home screen, you can add your favourite contacts or apps in the home screen for easier and faster access, etc.


How to add a home screen panel?
By default, there are three home screens in the easy mode: 1 main home screen, 1 home screen for apps, and 1 home screen for contacts. If needed, you can add 1 additional home screen for contact and 2 additional home screens for apps by using the following steps:
  1. On the main home screen, tap Edit at the top right.
  2. To add an additional home screen for contacts, swipe the screen to the right until you find a home screen panel with the plus sign and then tap to add an additional home screen for contacts.
  3. To add an additional home screen for apps, swipe the screen to the left until you find a home screen panel with the plus sign and then tap to add an additional home screen for apps.
  4. Tap Done button to save the changes.


How to remove an additional home screen?
If needed, you can remove unused additional home screens that you have added before by using the following steps:
  1. On the main home screen, tap Edit at the top right.
  2. To remove an additional home screen for contacts, swipe the screen to the right until you find the one you want to remove and then tap to remove the home screen for contacts. Tap Remove button to confirm removing the selected home screen.
  3. To remove a home screen for apps, swipe the screen to the left until you find the one you want to remove and then tap to remove the home screen for contacts. Tap Remove button to confirm removing the selected home screen.
  4. Tap Done button to save the changes.


How to add or remove frequently used apps in the main home screen?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On the main home screen, tap Edit at the top right.
  2. To remove an app from the main home screen, tap the required app icon you want to remove and then tap Remove to confirm removing the selected app.
  3. To add an app in the main home screen, tap and then select the required app you want to add to the home screen.
  4. Tap Done button to save the changes.


How to add or remove contacts in home screen?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Go to the home screen for contacts(it's located in the left side of the main home screen) and then tap Edit at the top right.
  2. To add a contact to home screen, do as follows:
    • Tap .
    • Select Create contact if you'd like to create a new contact and then add it to the home screen, or select Add existing contact to pick up a contact from your contacts list and then add it to the home screen. As the example, we'll select Add existing contact.
    • Select the required contact.
    • The selected contact has been added to the home screen.
      FYI, if you have 2 home screens for contacts, you can add up to 24 contacts to your home screen.
  3. Remove a contact from home screen, tap the required contact icon you want to remove and then tap Remove to confirm removing the selected contact.
  4. Tap Done button to save the changes.


How to add or remove apps in home screen?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Go to the home screen for apps(it's located in the right side of the main home screen) and then tap Edit at the top right.
  2. To add an app to home screen, tap and then select the required app you want to add to the home screen.
    FYI, if you have 3 home screens for apps, you can add up to 36 apps to your home screen.
  3. Remove an app from home screen, tap the required app icon you want to remove and then tap Remove to confirm removing the selected app.
  4. Tap Done button to save the changes.

How to enable the easy mode feature?
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. Scroll down the screen to find Easy mode and then tap it.
  3. Tap Easy mode to select it.
  4. If needed, you can select the apps below to view them in simpler layout while in the easy mode:
    • Camera
    • Email
    • Gallery
    • Internet
    • Messages
    • Music
    • Phone
    • S Planner
    As the example, if you select or enable Messages, then the Messages app will be viewed in simpler layout while you're in the easy mode. But, you have to remember that doing this action will make some features or functions within the selected app become unavailable or disable.
  5. Tap Done button to enable or apply the easy mode in your phone.
  6. The easy mode has been applied in your phone.
