You can turn on or off this option by using the following steps:
  1. In any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notifications panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sounds and notifications .
  3. Scroll down to find Other sounds, and then tap it.
  4. Tap Touch sounds to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the touch sounds is enabled and your phone will play a water-drop-like sound each time you make a screen selection, press the Back key or press the Recent apps key.

If your lock screen is not turned off and your phone is not in silent or vibration mode, you can set your phone to play a sound when you lock or unlock the screen by enabling the screen lock sound. Even, you can get a different screen lock sound when you have set swipe as your unlock method by changing the lock screen effect. But, if you don't want your phone plays a sound when you lock or unlock the screen, you can get rid the sound simply by disabling the screen lock sound.

You can set your Samsung Galaxy S5 to play a tone when you do some actions, one of which is when you tap the dialing keypad in the stock Phone app to make calls. FYI, the option to enable or disable dialling keypad tone in the settings menu is moved to a new menu when your phone has been updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. I write this post so you can still find the option in your phone with ease.


How to enable or disable dialling keypad tone?
You can turn on or off dialling keypad tone with several methods available. But, as the example, we'll do so by using two different methods: from the settings menu and from the Phone app.


Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notifications panel and then tap at the top right to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to Sound and display section and then tap Sounds and notifications .
  3. Scroll down the screen to find Other sounds, and then tap it.
  4. Tap Dialling keypad tone to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means this option is enabled and your phone will play a tone when the dialing keypad in the stock Phone app is tapped.


Method #2: From the stock Phone app
  1. Open the stock Phone app.
  2. Tap at the top right or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Call.
  4. Scroll down the screen to find Ringtones and keypad tones, and then tap it.
  5. Tap Dialling keypad tone to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means this option is enabled and your phone will play a tone when the dialing keypad in the stock Phone app is tapped.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Change Email Message Tone in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Change the ringtone for incoming email messages is the best way that can be done to help you recognize that you have new email messages. If needed, you can set different tones for different email accounts(if you have multiple accounts) so that you can easily know to which account the email message is sent for, or set different tone for your priority contacts so that you can easily know that you have email messages from contacts you have marked as priority senders.


How to change email message tone?
You can change the email message tone by using three different methods: from the general sound settings menu, from an email account settings menu and from the priority sender settings menu.


Method #1: From the general sound settings menu
This method can be used if you have set the "Default notification sound" as the email message tone. But, you have to remember that this method will change the notification tone for other apps that also use the default notification sound as the notification tone. See the following steps to do so:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap at the top of the screen to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. Select the required notification tone.
  5. Tap OK button.
  6. The general notification sound has been changed.


Method #2: From an email account settings menu
FYI, this method can be used to change the email message tone for a single account only. Thus, if you have multiple email accounts, you have to set email message tone for each account separately if you want to use different tones for different accounts. See the following steps to change email message tone for certain account:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Manage accounts.
  4. Tap the required email account you want to change its tone.
  5. Make sure to check the box next to Email notifications to enable this option so that you can receive notifications when new email messages arrive.
  6. Now, tap Notification sound.
  7. Select the required tone. FYI, if you select Default notification sound then it'll use the tone that has been selected in the general notification sound (see method #1).
  8. Tap OK button.
  9. The email message tone for the selected account has been changed.


Method #3: From the priority sender settings
If you have set some email addresses or contacts with email addresses as priority senders, then you can set different tone for them separately by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Email app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then select Settings.
  3. Tap Priority sender settings.
  4. Make sure to check the box next to Email notifications to enable this option so that you can receive notifications when new email messages from priority senders arrive.
  5. Now, tap Notification sound.
  6. Select the required tone. FYI, if you select Default notification sound then it'll use the tone that has been selected in the general notification sound (see method #1).
  7. Tap OK button.
  8. The email message tone for priority senders has been changed.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Fix No Notification Sound When Receiving New Text Messages in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

By default, a notification sound or message tone will be played if you receive a new text message to help you easily know that you have a new one. However, there are 4 conditions that can cause the notification sound is not played when you receive a new text message: 1)the notifications in the stock messaging app settings is disabled or the message tone is set to silent, 2)the phone is on silent or vibration mode, 3)the volume of the general notifications is too low, 4)the notifications of the stock messaging app is blocked or disabled. So, based on the things that probably make you get no notification sound or message tone when receiving a new text message, you can try fixing this issue by doing the following steps:


Step #1: Make sure the notifications in the stock Messaging app settings is enabled and the message tone is not set to silent
You can do so by using the following steps:
  1. Open the stock Messaging app.
  2. Tap or long press the Recent apps key to open up the additional options and then tap Settings.
  3. Scroll the screen to the very bottom.
  4. Tap Notifications. If notifications is off, tap the ON/OFF switch to turn it on.
  5. Tap Notification sound and then select the required message tone you want to use. Here, you have to make sure that you don't choose Silent as the message tone.
  6. Tap OK button to save the changes.


Step #2: Make sure to place your phone to the sound mode
You have to place your phone in sound mode to make your phone plays the notification sound when you receive a new text message by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Tap Sound mode and then select Sound.


Step #3: Make sure the notifications volume is adjusted
If needed, you can increase the volume of the general notifications by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Tap Volume.
  4. Drag the volume adjustment bar below the Notifications option to the right to increase the volume.
  5. Tap OK button to save the changes.


Step #4: Make sure the notifications of the stock Messaging app is enabled
You have to set your phone to show or enable notifications for the stock messaging app by using the following steps:
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Applications section and then tap Application manager .
  3. Swipe the screen from the right to the left to access the All screen. You'll see all installed apps in your phone are listed here.
  4. Scroll down to find Messages and then tap it.
  5. Make sure to check the box in the left side of the Show notifications option to enable it and let you receive notification sound when you receive a new text message.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Enable or Disable Screen Lock Sound in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Samsung Galaxy S5 provides you with several screen lock methods to have your device more secure and prevent from unauthorized access. When you have enabled a screen lock method, you'll be given with some options to personalize your lock screen, one of which is the screen lock sound. When the screen lock sound is enabled, your phone will sound when you're locking or unlocking the screen. But, if you don't want your phone sounds when locking or unlocking the screen or if you feel annoyed with the sound then you can turn off the sound simply by disabling the screen lock sound.


How to turn on or off the screen lock sound?
To make the screen lock sound works, make sure the screen lock is not turned off and your phone is not in silent or vibration mode. Well, you can access the option to enable or disable the screen lock sound by using two different methods: from the general settings menu and from the S Finder.


Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Scroll down to the Feedback section.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap Screen lock sound to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the screen lock sound is enabled and your phone will play a sound when you're locking or unlocking the screen.


Method #2: From the S Finder
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap the S Finder button.
  2. Key in "screen lock sound" in the search field and then tap to start searching.
  3. In the search result page, under the Settings section, tap Screen lock sound. It'll quickly bring you to the place where the screen lock sound option is located.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap Screen lock sound to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the screen lock sound is enabled and your phone will play a sound when you're locking or unlocking the screen.

As a note, if you have enabled swipe as your screen lock method then you can have different tone for the screen lock sound by changing the lock screen effect. But, if you have enabled a screen lock method other than swipe then the screen lock sound will use the water ripple sound as its tone by default. Also, if needed, you can increase or decrease the screen lock sound volume by adjusting the system volume in the general sound volume settings.

Samsung Galaxy S5: How to Enable or Disable Dialling Keypad Tone in Android 4.4.2 Kitkat

Dialling phone number in the Phone app is one of the most common method to make a call. If needed, while making a call using this method, you can set your phone to play a tone when the dialling keypad is touched by enabling the dialling keypad tone. But, if you don't like your phone sounds when you tap the dialling keypad or if you feel annoyed with that tone, you can easily turn off this tone simply by disabling the dialling keypad tone.


How to turn on or off the dialling keypad tone?
In this post, we'll try enabling or disabling the dialling keypad tone using three different methods: from the general settings menu, from the Phone app settings, and from the S Finder.


Method #1: From the settings menu
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap to go to the settings menu.
  2. With the settings menu is displayed in grid view, scroll down to the Sound and display section and then tap Sound .
  3. Scroll down to the Feedback section.

Method #3: From the S Finder
  1. On any screen, swipe down the top of the screen to open up the notification panel and then tap S Finder button.
  2. Key in "dialling keypad tone" in the search field and then tap to start searching.
  3. In the search result, under Settings section, tap Dialling keypad tone. It'll quickly bring you to the place where this option is located in the general settings menu.
  4. Depending on your current settings, tap Dialling keypad tone to enable or disable this option. When the checkbox next to this option is checked means the dialling keypad tone is enabled and the phone will play sound when the dialling keypad is tapped.

As a note, you can't change the sound for the dialling keypad tone, but you can increase or decrease its volume by adjusting the system volume in the general sound volume settings.

Samsung Galaxy S4: How Turn Off Notifications Sound During Calls in Android 4.4 Kitkat

Today an insider sent me an email and asked me how to disable notifications sound while she was on an active call. She said that the notifications sound really disturbed her and it became worse when she was wearing headset. The sound interrupted her conversation because it made her check her phone instinctively and in some cases it also made her difficult to hear clearly the person she was speaking with. Well, if you have the same problem with her, then you can fix it by setting the phone to silence the notifications sound when you have an alarm or a new message during call.


How to turn off in-call notifications sound?
There are two methods available that you can use to disable notifications sound while you're in an active call, through the Settings menu and through Phone app.


Method #1: From the Settings menu
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Tap My device tab.
  3. Tap Call.
  4. Tap Call alerts.
  5. Clear the checkbox next to Alerts during calls to disable this option.
  6. Once done, alarm and message notifications sound will be turned off during calls.


Method #2: From the Phone app
  1. Open Phone app.
  2. Tap the Menu key and then select Call settings.
  3. Tap Call alerts.
  4. Clear the checkbox next to Alerts during calls to disable this option.
  5. Once done, alarm and message notifications sound will be turned off during calls.

Basically, the notifications sound during calls feature is designed to inform you when your alarm goes off or when you have a new message while you're in an active call so that you won't miss them. But, for any reason if this option bothers you, then you can easily turn this option off by following the steps mentioned above.

Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Assign Different Message Tone in Different Contact

Some insiders asked me through the comments they leave in a couple of articles on this blog about how to set a different message tone for each contact so they could hearing a different message tone when receiving an incoming message from different contact. Unfortunately the stock messaging app on the Samsung Galaxy SIII does not provide the option to do so, you can only set the same message tone for all contacts.

Well, let's thanks to the Google Play Store as the official market for Android phones which provide you many choices of the applications to fill the shortage in stock applications. For example, in this case you can set a different message tone for each contact using a third-party messaging apps that you can get on the Play Store .


How to set different message tone for each contact?
As an example, we will use the Handcent SMS app to do so:
  1. Download install Handcent SMS app through the Play Store.
  2. Once the installation is completed, launch the app.
  3. All the conversation in the stock messaging app will be automatically retrieved on this app.
  4. Tap the desired message from certain contact you wish to change the message tone.
  5. Tap the Menu key then select Personalization.
  6. Tap Notification settings.
  7. Tap Notification sound.
  8. Select the desired message tone, either from the default tones or from your own music or tones.
  9. Tap OK button to save the changes.

So simple to do, right? Now, you can easily assign different message tone on each contact. As a note, you can only set the message tone to a contact who has been sent you a message. So, hope this helps :)

Samsung Galaxy S3 : How to Fix No Notifications Tone when Receiving Incoming Message or Email

One of the insider (how I call the inside-galaxy's visitors) named Mr. Walsh was wrote an email to me and asked why his Samsung Galaxy SIII not play a tone when receiving an incoming message or email, eventhough he had set the message tone and email tone on his phone. Well, if you're also experiencing the same problem with him, then there are a few things that you should check on your phone to solve this problem. Here they are:
  1. Make sure your phone is not in the silent mode, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Ensure the Silent mode is turned off.
  2. Make sure you have ticked the Notification option under Messaging app settings.
  3. Make sure you have ticked the Email Notification option under your Email account settings.
  4. Make sure you have adjusted the volume so you can hear the tone of an incoming message or email, check this by going to Settings> Sound> Volume> adjust the Notifications volume bar to the right to increase of the volume.
  5. Check whether you have enabled blocking mode on your phone, check this by going to Settings> Blocking Mode> (if blocking mode is enabled) then make sure the Disable notifications option is not checked .

  6. If your Samsung Galaxy SIII running with the Android Jelly Bean, make sure you have checked Show Notifications in Messaging app and Email app. Do this thing by going to Settings> Application Manager> Go to the app (Messaging and email)> tick the box next to Show Notifications.

For some peoples this option sometimes is annoying, but some others are not. If you don't want to hear sound whenever you touch the keyboard then turn this option off to set key tones to silent. Samsung Galaxy S3: How to Repeat Message Alert

One of the best way to notify you that you receive an incoming message is by setting a message tone. Fortunately, in Samsung Galaxy SIII you can change message tone to the one you like with ease. To enable you to change message tone in this phone, then first you must enabling notifications option in Messaging app settings page.

Another things you can do in this page which is associated with message tone is adjusting text message alert repetition. Here you can set it to ring just once or more than once.


How to adjust message alert repetition?
Kindly follow the steps listed below to do so:
  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Tap Messaging.
  3. Tap the Menu key.
  4. On pop up menu select Settings.
  5. Scroll to Notification settings section then tap Message alert repetition.
  6. Here you can see three options available on pop up menu. They are:
    • Once: Choose this option if you want your phone ring the tone just once when receiving an incoming messages.
    • Every 2 minutes: Choose this option if you want your phone ring the tone every 2 minutes until you open the message.
    • every 10 minutes: Choose this option if you want your phone ring the tone every 10 minutes until you open the message.
  7. Tap the required message alert repetition option you wish to use. When the dot indicator next to the option shows green means the option is selected.
  8. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.

By adjusting message alert repetition just once or more than once, now your phone will notify you when receiving new message and repeating the tone according to the settings you've just done. So, what's the option you use on your phone?

So many advantages that you can get when you have a Samsung account, one of them is you can use this account to login to samsungdive.com and utilize many services inside it, such as lock your lost or stolen phone remotely through this site.

One more thing you can do while you login in Samsung Dive site is you can ring your phone and following it with certain message. Your phone will ring for 1 minute with the highest volume, regardless whether you're phone was set to vibrate or silent.


How to ring your phone remotely using Samsung Dive?
Here are the steps you need to do:
  1. Open web browser by clicking the web browser icon on your computer's desktop.
  2. In a web browser, go to www.samsungdive.com
  3. Click Sign In button.
  4. Click E-mail field then type your email address associated with your Samsung account.
  5. Click Password field then type your password.
  6. Click Sign In button.
  7. Click Ring My Mobile option in the left side of the screen.
  8. Here you can type message that will be send to your lost or stolen phone. Ensure you tick the checkbox next to the option "The following message will be displayed with the ring of the bell".
  9. Click Ring button to ring your phone remotely.
  10. Now your phone will ring for 1 minute and displaying the message you've just created.

In Samsung Galaxy SIII, you can customize many things through Phone app. One of them is you can turn on or off call vibrations. Enabling this option will make your phone vibrate every time the person you're calling answering your call and when the call is ended.

  1. Go to Apps through Home screen.
  2. Tap Contacts.
  3. Tap Group tab.
  4. Here you will see a list of your contact group. Tap and hold the required group you wish to set its ringtone until a pop up menu is displayed on your screen. Or you can tap the required group then tap the Menu key to get pop up menu.
  5. On pop up menu select Edit group.
  6. Scroll to Group ringtones, then tap the right arrow icon next to the option.
  7. Now you will see 3 options available on the pop up menu. They are:
    • Default: Select this option if you want to use ringtone that has set in Setting->Sound->Device ringtone.
    • Ringtone: Select this option if you want to use pre-loaded ringtones and ringtones on ringtones folders.
    • Go to My Files: Select this option if you want to use any ringtone files on your internal or external storage.
  8. Find and select the required ringtone you wish to use.
  9. Tap OK button to save your changes.
  10. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.
  11. Finish. Now you have managed to set ringtone for the selected contact group. You can also do this steps for another contact group you already have.

By knowing on how to set different ringtone for each group, now you can set the ringtone you want for certain contact group. So, hope it helps :)

  8. Tap OK button to save your changes.
  9. Tap Home button to return to the standby mode.
